The Star Championships 2012
The date for the 2012 BDF Professional and Amateur Star Championships will be Wednesday 11th January.
The date for the 2012 BDF Juvenile, Junior, Youth, Senior 1, 2 and 3 Star Championships will be Sunday 29th January, see the special page for these Championships for full details.
The Star Championships are one of the Three Major events used for the DPA/BDF National League. These World renowned Amateur and Professional, Ballroom and Latin American Championships will be held at The Effingham Park Copthorne Hotel, West Park Road, Copthorne, West Sussex, RH10 3EU. Music for the competition will be from the Worlds leading dance orchestra... Ashley Frohlick and his Empress Orchestra.
Full details and timetables of the Professional and Amateur Ballroom and Latin American will be announced closer to the date.
ENTRIES are now being accepted for both of the Star Championship events.
Competitors for the Star Professional and Amateur Ballroom and Latin American Championships on Wednesday January11th please use the entry form HERE, or send to www.pro@ballroomdancersfederation.com and COMPETITORS please note you must pay for your tickets in advance by clicking HERE, unfortunately entry cannot be accepted without the pre payment of your entry tickets. Please see any member of the BDF executive for tickets and/or entry/application forms.
For all entries to the Star 2 event on Sunday 29th January, please send your entry via email to www.pro@ballroomdancersfederation.com. Note tickets do not need to be purchased in advance for this event ONLY.
COMPETITORS Tickets ONLY, for the Effingham Park event can be purchased online from the BDF shop NOW, or pro@ballroomdancersfederation.com . Prices are to remain the same as for 2011... ALL OTHER TICKET application (Front Row Seats, Second Row Seats, Spectator Tickets) must be sent by email and cheques made payable to BDF sent to Martin Cutler Star Championships, 107 Hampton Lane, Solihull, West Midlands, B91 2RR, England, as soon as possible.

1年の最後に
今年の世相を表した漢字一文字は「絆」。3．11の大震災や夏の台風による甚大な被害などで家族や仲間等とのかけがえのない「絆」や女子サッカーで世界1に輝いたなでしこジャパンのチームワークとしての「絆」など、人と人とのつながりが改めて大切なものなのだと実感した1年でした。
私たちのボールルームダンスでの上達もまさに人と人とのパートナーシップという「絆」で成り立つものです。ご夫婦でのカップル、兄弟カップル、友人のカップルなどカップルとしてのありようは様々でしょうが、人と人のつながりをボールルームダンスの美学に基づいて種目ごとのテクニックを音楽的に理解をし、時間と空間を共有するスタイルにカップルとしてのチームワークが必要とされ、ハーモニーを生み出すのです。私はこのダンスを通じてすばらしいことを経験していることに誇りさえ覚えます。
一方で、世の中の長引く不景気、世界的な政治経済の混乱は将来の不安を抱かせる現実もあります。民間に広がる閉塞感は大阪W選挙での大阪維新の会の大勝利を呼んだように旧態依然のやり方とは違う、新たな方向性に祈りに近い気持ちを込めた民意の結果なのであろうと思われます。新しい枠組みで新たなものの考え方が必要とされる時代に突入したと私は感じます。
さあ、ダンス界。日本ダンススポーツ連盟（JDSF）や全日本ダンス協会連合会（全ダ連）の公益社団法人がすでに認可され、日本ボールルームダンス連盟（JBDF）の公益財団法人への移行手続きが急がれる段階に入っていますが、一方でプロ組織の再統一の声が上がって来ているのも事実です。現存する組織の統一というよりも，全国レベルでの選手の出場の制限を団体間で緩和して行こうとする考え方です。
すでに日本ダンス議会（JDC）と日本プロフェッショナルダンス競技連盟（JCF）ではビッグコンペのレベルでその垣根を越えた交流は始まっているようですし、JBDFを含めた3団体による日本プロダンス競技会（JNCPD）の統一全日本の盛り上がりなどを見れば，日本のすべてのトップダンサーが日本国内で一堂に会し、その技を競う場がさらに増えて行くことを皆が期待しているのは自明のことなのです。
人と人のつながりでダンスが存在し，そのダンスで笑顔と夢をすべての人に広げることができるのです。組織の都合で小さな枠組みとしての組織に閉じ込め、それぞれの小さなスケールで活動をくり返しても発展性は望めないでしょう。ダンスを愛する気持ちを萎えさせてしまうことにもなりかねません。
2012年。ダンスを愛するもの同士の「絆」を大切に、ダンス界がさらに良くなって行くための環境作りに取り組んで行きたいものです！
さあ、そんなことを言ってるうちに新年が始まります。新年の始まりとともに競技会はどんどんとやってきます。一つずつ果敢にチャレンジすることは当たり前のことですが、前号でもお話をした通り、きちっとプランを立てて、そのプランの実行のために基礎トレーニング、基本の充実、そして音楽的な理解とともにスタイルやムーブメントの向上、スウィングのパワーアップなどのメニューをこなしていくことが肝心です。
次にやってくる大会のことだけに捉われるのではなく、その次の、そしてその次の大会での目標に向かって練習が出来る環境を整えて行くことも大事です。自分のペースでものを考え、自分のペースでメニューをこなして行くことは自らの喜びであり、満足、納得につながります。人のペースに巻き込まれ、大会に追われているようでは目標達成はおろか、逆にストレス一杯の負のスパイラルに陥ってしまいます。 競技を楽しむということはいかに勝つかを考えて実行することなのです。
1月17日から19日までの3日間開催されるUK選手権に挑戦する多くの日本人選手達。12月のパーティーシーズンでの疲れを取る間もなく大会に向けた調整をすることになるでしょうが、自身のレベルアップをはかるための基礎トレーニングや基本の充実は毎日の日課として「踊れる身体作り」と「パワーアップ」に励んでもらいたいものです。そして、すばらしい環境の中で海外の選手たちのパワーを肌で感じ、その海外選手のムーブメントをリードして行けるような，魂のこもったダンスを目指してがんばってほしいと願います。
2012年が皆様方におかれまして、すばらしい飛躍の年になりますことをお祈りいたしております。
